Poetic Realism. Honestly...not my bag...don't care for it...can't stand it...bores me to tears. Hell, the only reason this film was even noticed was because the director...Vigo, died upon it's theatrical release, thus proving the struggling artist died for his work.

How poetic. Anyway, I suppose the film is worth a watch. I feel it tends to get lulled down at times by quite a few unnessasary scenes (latest DVD release). Overall, it's a bit too surrealist for my liking.

Of course, there is a part of me that thinks...If I saw this in the 30s, it would have blown my mind. I suppose the film dates poorly. Eh.
