Review of L'Atalante (1934) by Stanley B — 30 Oct 2012
L'Atalante (Le chaland qui passe) French film directed by Jean Vigo. Starring Jean Dasté, Dita Parlo and Michel Simon. The plot of the movie is about a woman who gets bored with her life to be on the river most of the time with her newly-wedded husband who is captain of the ship and eccentric crew working under his command. She leaves the ship, when their boat moors in Paris.
L'Atalante is so powerful film, that it could take you along aboard small Titanic-like (and yet huge in volume). The characters in the film, enthusiastically approach their performances; that gives person like myself nothing more tha we crave for and that's sure the entertainment, joy and enthusiasm; which is what I have always sought from movies.
It cannot get more fun-ride than that of at closing end.
Papa Jules character sparkles in entire film, this is the only character that is worth-watching, I liked the most out of all characters. And in my humble opinion, he was primarily a central figure.
NOTE: Re-Watched 3rd time.
