Review of Lady and the Tramp (1955) by Matt C — 27 Dec 2009
Revisited this one tonight for the first time since I was a wee tot, and I must say, I was moved. This is easily one of the greatest Disney classics. The legendary dinner scene with the Italian music alone sets it apart from other animated works of art.
It's funny, cute, beautiful in story and scope, poignant, and has great musical parts. I realized something thanks to this one though, pretty much all the Disney films, during Walt's time and plenty of movies afterward, all have the same formula.
Yet, it works for just about every single one, because every single one has something different to offer at the same time. It's sheer genius, yet only the brilliant Disney was able to put it into action properly.
Anyways, it's a great classic, definitely in my top 10 favorite animated films.
