Review of Lady and the Tramp (1955) by Wayne K — 18 Nov 2017
Haven't seen this film in years. And I mean in years! But I feel like I can still give a good and accurate review for it. To start off, the edition of the CinemaScope widescreen effect is, yes, arguable to a degree.
But I don't mind it. In fact, because of that, I think the animation is just slightly better than the other 50's Disney films. Secondly, is the story. Now I got to be honest. I don't particularly like this type of narrative.
It's just your basic love story on how opposites attract. However, the execution of it is awesome. And there were some scenes where I teared up a little bit. To this day. I have regarded it as one of the best love stories of all time (Yes even better than Romeo & Juliet).
But what really makes this film stand out is the characters. I love Lady and the Tramp! They both have their own distinct personality instead of just being stereotypical love interests. The rest of the characters are great too (If a bit one-dimensional).
And of course, I can't do a review without mentioning one of the most iconic scenes in Disney history. And I have to admit. It still gives me tears to this day! Overall, May not be my personal favorite Disney movie.
But it's certainly among the best by the studio.
