Review of La Strada (1954) by Ben C — 29 Apr 2008
Have had a hard time getting involved emotionallly in Fellini's movies and have not really been a fan. Luckily this movie has too many strong parts to not be a effective film: like Nino Rita's simple (but memorable) music, Guiletta's fantastic comic and dramatic emotional face and the perfect combination of tragi-comedy.
Still, there is some religious symbolism in this movie that I just don't grasp (as I'm not that particular religious) so I have to work around it and make my own idea about it - which is just as well as I guess.
So now I guess I can't give up on Fellini just yet.
