Review of La Strada (1954) by Roger T — 30 Jul 2011
From the beginning to the end my eye were glued. Arguably Fellini's first 'Fellinieasque' movie. The acting is outstanding, Fellini's directing coming from a planet we have yet to discover, and the photography is outstanding.
What is most striking is the carnival and its cast of characters. I don't want to give much away but there's conflict, a ship full of symbolism, and jealousy. It's not as surreal as Fellini's later works but it shows what is to come in 'La Strada' one of the master's greatest achievements in his post neo-realist stage.
Is there such a thing as watching too much Fellini? If so, commit me to the ward.
