Review of La Dolce Vita (1960) by Post G — 01 Jun 2008
First half is brilliant! Wonderful cinematography, characters, acting, direction. Beautifully shot, with wide angles and subtle direction. A wonderful snapshot of Italy. Unfortunately, at 3 hours, the film does falter, and the second half is noticeabley weaker.
The second half appeared more pretentious and confusing, and lacked the vigour and pure silliness of the first half. Without this half, the rating would probably have improved by 3 stars.
