Review of La Dolce Vita (1960) by Mikael K — 25 Dec 2008
From what I can gather from this is a man who is searching for answers in a world of transparent superficiallity and people obsessively seeking happiness through hedonism.
It is a simple story that is very broad in it's scope. It explores many scenes like public hysteria, Italian aristocracy, art, music, poetry, nature etc. Each scene has something interesting to offer, as well as being excellently shot and directed. You are dazzled by the imagary, the many iconic shots and the general aesthetics, while at the same time being repulsed at the empty characters that fill the screen. Nice work indeed!
