Review of La Dolce Vita (1960) by Gaelan D — 21 Jul 2009
I don't think I could cut a thing in terms of quality, and from a biographical context I completely appreciate the crucial place this film in Fellini's career.
But if the movie was truly designed to leave me feeling weary and tired of modernist Italian life, it sure succeeded. I can appreciate this movie for its technical innovation, but I suspect I'll watch La Strada or Satyricon or Roma way more often just for digestibility.
I suppose it's also because I like my grotesque midgits and dream-like fog to be explicit.
