Review of Kwaidan (1965) by Daniel H — 12 Jan 2008
Four leisurely paced supernatural tales from tales by Koizumi Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn). Kurokami (Black Hair), Yuki Onna (Woman in the Snow), Miminashi Hoichi (Earless Hoichi), which is my personal favorite, and the bizarre Chawan no Naka (In a Cup of Tea).
Well worth the 2:44 time, showing that Kurosawa didn't have the monopoly on quality films in Japan.
