Review of Kiss Me Deadly (1955) by Jacob G — 28 Aug 2011
Kiss Me Deadly is sort of a perfect little pseudo-noir piece. The movie itself, while using a grimy private investigator, is not really a noir-style story. But visual cues and attitudes are pure film-noir with dark shadows on the wall, a tough main character who knows how to back up his bravado, shoe shots, etc.
Stylishly hard-hitting, Kiss Me Deadly tackles some heavy topics. This is not a film wherein everything will necessarily make sense, nor will everything be particularly realistic. But it takes its topics with a proper gravity, allowing the themes to speak for themselves.
