Review of Kiss Me Deadly (1955) by Anna L — 18 Jul 2012
This unintentionally funny exercise in nihilism for the masses is uneven and sloppy in places. It's certainly entertaining, but to call it a masterpiece is going too far. Yes, there's plenty of iconic imagery and dialog, but it's more on the level of kitsch than high art.
There are dozens of noirs far superior to this one, regardless of the impact it had on pretentious French filmmakers.
