Review of King Solomon's Mines (1950) by Mikal O — 08 Sep 2010
Singular 50's movie with gorgeous cinematography, beasts aplenty and fascinating performances by literally hundreds of Africans. I can't remember ever seeing anything quite like it. And Deborah Kerr is positively radiant and feisty as the rich wife of a lost adventurer who hires the beyond swarthy Grainger to take her into darkest uncharted Africa to find, wait for it, King Solomon's Mines.
