Not a Bollywood film and a good surprise: Kahaani is an Indian thriller with a gritty atmosphere, a great main female character and a tight script with a twist at the end. Mixing humour with a serious narrative, the detective story is gripping.
Great acting overall. The film doesn't take itself seriously and has also a critical eye towards some elements of the Indian culture such as corruption. The film also paints an interesting portrait of Calcutta/Kolkata.
Worth seeing.
