Review of Justice League: Gods and Monsters (2015) by Zach M — 04 Mar 2016
Superman (Benjamin Bratt): I could show you if you'd like.
Lois Lane (Paget Brewster): You never let the press inside the tower.
Superman (Benjamin Bratt): I'm reconsidering, unless you'd rather not be the first.
Lois Lane (Paget Brewster): Like hell! Let's go.
This was an interesting reinterpretation of the old and long-established lore of the founding members of The Justice League. I've always enjoyed "What If" storylines in comics and this was a refreshing twist to Superman's, Batman's and Wonderwoman's origin stories-- granted, some were more well though out than other's -- the reimagining Superman's origin was brilliant, down to being found by immigrants; that was just simply brilliant! Unfortunarely (and disappointingly enough for me) Batman's origin story was less inspired. The voice-acting was pretty good, I didn't even bother trying to decipher who the voice-actors were since the story arc was just that interesting. Overall, the plot of the film held promise: the whole idea was intriguing and a majority of the movie played out really nicely. Unfortunately, the ending was a bit of a let down (IMHO), it felt like a cop-out almost. It was like the writer ran out of material, or budget or just simply gave up. What a sad, sappy conclusion to an otherwise good film.
