Review of Justice League: Gods and Monsters (2015) by Ian G — 02 Sep 2015
Depends how you want to look at the alternate universe take on the core three Justice Leaguers will lead to whether or now you get a kick out of the proceedings that take place in Gods and Monsters. Even though the titles of the heroes remain the same, it is essentially different minor characters under the proverbial cowls with Mat-Bat acting as Batman, a Big Barda clone from the New Gods as Wonder Woman and the son of Zod acting as Superman with very different backgrounds to make them very much a grey area Justice league team investigating the deaths of a number of prominent scientists who were concocting a potential safety net to protect the Earth if the Justice League went rogue.
Not quite the criminal alternates of the alternates we are used to seeing, and the ultimate villain of the piece is an obscure character from 60's era DC, there isnt much to connect to even as a hard core fan other then a return to the late 90's early aughts animation style of the Timmverse.
Otherwise it just seems to be a scrapping the bottom of the barrel story just to make a release date while working on hopefully something cool for the next one. Compared to the stories that have come before meh one of the few flops by the Timm team in my books.
