Review of Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) by Wednesday T — 14 Apr 2010
One of the truly great courtroom dramas made, not only due to the heavy topic material, but the all-star cast and wonderful performances. One might expect that Spencer Tracy would be a solid choice, but I particularly responded to Maximilian Schell as the defense attorney and Richard Widmark as the prosecutor.
Though the film is almost 50 years old to date, the film is still fresh and impactful for me due to the unimaginable acts of the Nazis. The quest for justice is on display as the Americans try to hold those in power resposible for these acts, while the defense tries to show that not all Germans were Nazis and therefore not responsible.
Great conflict that creates great drama.
