Review of John Carter (2012) by Gavin P — 16 Dec 2014
Oh, what could have been. After reading 'The Greatest Sci-Fi Movies Never Made', I had high hopes for this film. But, as the book suggested, after 100 years of the Barsoom novels being pilfered, there wasn't much 'new' to see here.
Sure, some decent CGI, but Mars, the creatures, the coliseum - they all seem to reminiscent of 'Star Wars - Attack of the Clones'. The story is a bit weak, with the ending too neat. Nice concept, mostly failed execution.
