Proof that critics don't really appreciate science fiction unless it is an metaphor for society or tech heavy. I put off seeing John Carter for years because of the bad reviews but ended up really loving it, especially the second 2/3 and now sad there is no sequel.
This is real classic science fiction not the boring Star Trek or Terminator variety beloved by critics who don't really like sci fi.
