Review of John Carter (2012) by Javairen M — 05 Mar 2013

Despite some negative reviews I'd read, I had high hopes for John Carter. I would rate it as absolutely average. I have read at least one of the books, but that was 30 years ago. I don't know if prior knowledge would have helped or not, but the first half was a slightly confusing mess, so by the time the second half rolled around, I had given up on trying to understand everything and make sense of it all and just tried to enjoy the action and all the special effects and CGI.

That was when I started to enjoy it. There's a lot to like about this film, but also a lot to dislike. John's cute, little, adopted puppy Woola stole the show though. Extra half star for Woola!
