Review of Jason and the Argonauts (1963) by Jude B — 31 Dec 2005
'Jason and the Argonauts' is the mythological story of Jason and the Golden Fleece. Jason puts together a crew to find the golden fleece, and their voyage is filled with adventures and special effects monsters.
Jason and his men narrowly escape huge giants who were awakened by one of the crew, they help a blind man defeat evil harpies who keep stealing his food and who will not let him have peace. Jason also defeats the hydra stealing the golden fleece, but the most memorable special effect monsters are the skeletons toward the end of the film.
Overall, it is a fun movie, and the special effects are not that bad - probably excellent for their time. There is plenty of action throughout the film, so there is never a dull moment.
