Review of Jason and the Argonauts (1963) by Matt M — 27 Apr 2013
Cinematic retelling of the Greek mythological tale of Jason's quest for the Golden Fleece. Generally regarded as the best mixture of live action and stop motion animation - special effects by Ray Harryhousen - which includes some truly memorable sequences, most of all the fight between three live action actors and seven animated skeletons.
The overall visual style of the film is also top class, and the pace of the film contributes to making this film one of the most remarkable of the mythological adventure genre which was very popular at the time.
