Review of Ishtar (1987) by Elizabeth H — 13 Apr 2008

I really wanted to be the one to tell you otherwise, but Ishtar really is kind of lousy. I went in with an open mind, knowing that, even though it's been joked about so much, it might still be funny.

I mean, Dustin Hoffman still likes it, I respect the Hoffman a lot. But no, there were far too many times where I could see a joke happening, but I felt no inclination to laugh. The songs are horrible, but not always funny in their horribleness.

I didn't want to pass judgment without seeing it, but having seen it, I can only say that you should see it just to know. Y'know?
