Review of Ishtar (1987) by Abel D — 29 Sep 2013
More amusing than absolutely hysterical, this 1987 comedy bomb is no cinematic turd, thanks to terrific performances from its two leads, some gorgeous desert cinematography and Paul William's wonderfully terrible songs.
However, its slow pace, especially for a film with absurdist gags, and lack of big, hearty laughs, coupled with some none-too subtle commentary on American affairs abroad, will be enough of a turn off for some.
