Review of Infernal Affairs (2002) by Ronnie P — 07 Oct 2008
I saw this after I saw The Departed. Even if I saw this first, I would much prefer Scorsese's superior vision. First off, it may be westernized from a Hong Kong film, but there was a similar story is Boston.
Whitey Bulger was a clear basis for Frank Costello. Scorsese's has a very clear vision and scope. It also was a very quick movie for 2 1/2 hours. IA is a very slow and dull movie. It isn't nearly as rich as The Departed is.
There is some good in it like the performances, but it is really just inferior to The Departed.
