Review of Infernal Affairs (2002) by Lucas Y — 17 Feb 2009
Everything that was great about the departed was taken from this movie. it is simple and just right. the departed added nothing of substance from the original story and made it far more unrealistic by taking away the fact that they had been undercover for 7 plus years.
what was added had no addition to improving the plot; it hollywoodized it (a.k.a. ruined it). There was probably 30 minutes of unnecessary scenes with nicholson that did nothing to advance the character.
the fact that the departed won best adapted screenplay is a slap in the face to the original.
