Review of Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) by Derek S — 17 Aug 2016
We're going to live on. We're going to survive.
Independence Day: Resurgence is not something that should've happened in general. It is definitely not a good movie. But it was the REALLY dumb fun that you would expect from a Roland Emmerich film.
The only way a person can legitimately fin this film to be good is only as a guilty pleasure. The only redeeming quality is the original cast especially Goldblum but that is really it. Some of the concepts and actions sequences are well done.
This film is just ridiculous us and is just plain insanity. Most of it is just a convoluted mess with your typical Roland Smmerich disasterisms. There ar giant plot holes a very clear sequel set up, and just weak character all around. It is just a big mess.
Overall this film is a disaster of a disaster film. The aliens and the tech may look cool but it is obviously style of substance.
Rating: 6.2 (C-).
