I have no idea what anyone against this movie has for criteria. It avoided terrible sequel conventions, had genuinely well-written dialogue, moderately decent science, and plot innovations beyond the original - beyond the unavoidable "aliens are coming to destroy the world and there's a big one we gotta kill.
" Y'all probably gave the Transformers movies five stars though, right?
