Review of In a Bedroom (2012) by Vincent B — 16 Feb 2009
I had seen this film a while ago and hated it, but that was around when it first came out on DVD and I was in 6th or 7th grade. Now, I did like it a lot more, but not as much as it seems to have been received.
It was very well acted by everyone, for the most part well directed (why so many fade outs Todd?), and had a powerful but somewhat unbelievable story. I just don't think that these characters would actually pull a "revenge" if this were real.
I don't buy it. It also dragged at points, pretty badly. But as a whole, it is very much worth seeing, and I like how the title plays into the film as a metaphor, when I completely missed that when I first saw it in 6th/7th grade.
Very much performance/character driven, with interesting characters that at points are not believable. Some surprisingly cool shots for a film that mostly takes place inside houses. Go see it if you can sit through movies like this.
