Review of Impostor (2001) by Matt R — 09 Jan 2010
I liked this flick, although it wasn't stellar. Sinise and the other actors do a decent job, although D'Onofrio engages in a fair bit of overacting, as is his wont. The plot stays within the familiar story-ruts run by classics such as "The Fugitive," although this one has a slightly different ending that is somewhat, although not entirely, unexpected.
Like most of Philip K. Dick's movie translations, this one plays out much like an extended episode of some sci-fi variety show, and a lot of the pulse-pounding action sequences seem hamfisted into the plot in an attempt to make the movie "thrilling.
" In short, this is an average, adequate sci-fi thriller that's entertaining, albeit somewhat formulaic.
