Review of I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006) by Jason F — 13 Mar 2008
Ugh, whoever compares Oldboy to the VT shootings are either hitching onto another moronic sensationalistic bandwagon or just are just plain ignorant. At which part in Oldboy did the main character go into any form of building and shoot people up?
This movie, however, was a terrible decision on Park's part in that it is just plain terrible. Unlikable characters parading around in a looney bin just doesn't work for me, and coming off the Vengeance Trilogy and Cut, this was definitely a significant dropoff (not so much from Lady Vengeance though... that was nearly as bad). Poor storytelling in general, with a baffling ending made it appear that this was just a hubris project for Park. Well, everybody gets one, Chan-wook, and from the descriptions of Thirst so far, that one looks to be a winner from all aspects.
