Review of Ill Manors (2012) by Nicholas A — 25 Nov 2012
I wanted to hate this, and I did have real problems with it. But it wasn't as bad as perhaps i'd expected.
It's desperate to be a UK Wire., and it isn't. The album promotional songs really got on my nerve, as did the lazy other side-of-the-track images of the Olympic Park. But it is cleverly-constructed, and after an indifferent opening did start to draw me in.
My problem is that Plan B blames Cameron, society, and broken homes. But there's no real sociological assessment of perhaps whether such films, music as this doesn't really help?
