Review of Ikiru (1952) by Dustin F — 02 Jan 2008
Words like "Best Movie of All Time" and "Will Change your Life" are not quite fitting for this unbelievable cinematic achievement. Takashi Shimura puts forth his best performance, in this picture about the utter inadequacy of bureaucracy, and a dying man's ability to something within that structure.
This film will make you believe, at least for a second, that a single man can make a difference in a dark greedy world.
