Review of Ikiru (1952) by Kong M — 11 Jan 2008
This is my all-time top fav classics, and it has prove me wrong for underestimating classics because they typically look dull and shallow. even though it may be 50 years old, the script, the acting, the direction, the cinematics.
.and...most importantly, its depth is equal to even the most thought-provoking movies of today. utterly deep, depressing, sentimental, but inspiring, positive and life-changing, not even 'letters of iwo jima' can compare to this.
..as a classic they dun even need heavily sad music or narration to carry out the message. I will nvr 4get his words when he said 'i cant afford time to hate ppl' it just forced my tears to flow right away.
.powerful!it deserves a 6 star! thank god for great japanese films.
