Review of Ikiru (1952) by Will C — 03 Nov 2008
I guess I just don't get it. You get the first half of an amazing, heartbreaking film, and then 45 minutes of drunk Japanese businessmen crying to each other while we get a highlight reel of the second half of the movie.
What the fuck happened? Did Kurosawa run out of money or something? I guess I understand what he was going for, stylistically, but I really don't think he pulled it off. LOVED the first half, though.
