Akira Kurosawa created one of the best films ever! Takashi Shimura performs his GREATEST PERFORMANCE in a delicate, childish,depressing, powerful, extraordinary and moving way.( And I thought Toshiro Mifune was the greatest japanese actor; maybe I will have to reconsider.)Critics have claim that this is Kurosawa´s greatest work, Personally- I won´t say is it is, only because this is just one of many other Masterpieces from Kurosawa. The meaning is simple... DON´T WASTE YOUR LIFE- YOU HAVE TO LIVE.

With powerful performances, imagery, and songs... IKIRU is a phenomenon when speaking of excellent filmmaking! I was crying at times..
Life is brief. Fall in love, maidens, Before his hands take up his boat, Before the flush of his cheeks fades, For those of you who will never return here. Not a film for everyone, just film-lovers.
