Review of I Am Love (2010) by Page L — 18 Dec 2010
Ok I loved the movie up to the part when Edo, the son dies. He did not have to die. From there the movie lost control of where it was going and swerved off into melodrama where it failed to move me in the slightest.
Ok. So those are the negative bits. Otherwise this film was brilliant. Tilda Swinton shines as usual. She was beautiful and she acted beautifully. The plot up until said point above move flawlessly and effortlessly like a dancer to the film's wonderful score. The film was organic. It was like a true adventure and took me all over the hills of Italy. There was nature, there were flowers, insects, berries and sensual, wonderful, well-filmed sex. There was also family and the bourgeois but I liked the addition of both elements. The fact that the daughter was gay and she played an amazing role also made me smile. "I am Love" was everything it tried to be and more, completely living up to its title, until said part above.
