Review of I Am Love (2010) by Tim J — 15 Jul 2011
A rich woman falls in love with a chef (In a European art film? surely not!), and later her son dies in a highly contrived and improbable way. Quite literally that's all that happens over two hours.
It's impeccably shot but so woefully hollow and deeply pretentious; it's the sort of thing the French made so many times in the 90's, when critics were more deferential to films that merely appeared to have depth and meaning.
The only thing this film reveals are the hills, dales and secret coves of Tilda Swinton.
