Review of I Am Love (2010) by Annie E — 27 Oct 2014
Beautiful lighting and camerawork, a great cast, and John Adams' would-be moving score can't make up for the totally lacking script. It plays like a list of stereotypically dramatic scenes without the necessary connective tissue between them: the audience's emotional investment.
No work is put into making us see why these "dramatic" moments are important, much less *feel* that they are. The beautifully constructed moments of this film add up to far less than the sum of their parts.
I will say it did leave me with a heavy heart, heavy with the thought of all the wasted talent poured into this sinkhole script.
