Review of I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932) by John A — 14 Jul 2009
It's impossible to rate this movie below 4 stars, its one of the best movies ive seen from the 1930's.
Directing: A movie about betrayel, freedom and corruption, the story is superb and if im not mistaken the movie is based on true events which makes it even better. James Allen's hunt for freedom is directed with extreme greatness, mixed with excellent cinematography, action and chase scenes. The best thing about the directing is that you can actually feel what James Allen feels, the sadness, the betrayels, the will for freedom, to become somebody, the love and the hate, that is what makes this movie so great!
Acting: Paul Muni is really a great actor, the looks on his face is what makes it so easy to feel what he feels, to understand him and to pitty him. The movie was full of diffrent emotions and all of them he performed like only talented actors could. I can't say all the performances where that good but its Paul Muni who makes the movie.
