Review of Hour of the Wolf (1968) by B E — 27 Aug 2009
I don't understand why this film isn't ranked as one of Bergman's key works. What could be better than watching Max von Sydow and Liv Ullman go mad for 90 minutes as filmed by the masterful Sven Nykvist? It's a claustrophobic and brooding picture that gets stranger and stranger with every passing moment.
Where is its place in the Bergman canon and indeed in horror cinema of the last 100 years?
