Review of Hoosiers (1986) by James S — 06 Aug 2009
More about the people than the basketball, this film is full of heart. It felt a little 'on the surface' for me though as the sentimentality perhaps overpowered some of the underlying darker elements - some of which could have been explored more fully. The film as a result seems quick and comfortable for the most part and doesn't give us enough opportunity to get to know the characters as intimately as I would have liked.
An enjoyable 'feel good' movie all the same.
