Review of Hoosiers (1986) by Mike H — 25 Mar 2008
A typical sports drama with great photography and acting. Dennis Hopper's character is a little odd - it probably made more sense in the script and got cut back in the film, but some of his scenes come out of no where with no real set up; we know he's an alcoholic, but his character needed more screen time. The romance between Hackman and the woman came out of nowhere too. It felt tossed in at the last minute just for the sake of having a love interest... and it was not pursued any further than one brief, awkward scene.
The soundtrack hasn't aged well.
