One of the best sports movie ever made, and THE best basketball movie I have ever seen, this is a genuinely inspiring and engaging drama. Hackman is in top form as the lead, Hopper gives one of his most touching performance ever, Hershey provides class and charm to a character that could have been very boring, and all of the actors impersonating those real basketball players are pleasently believable.
The movie might be a bit predictable, but since it's based on actual events, you just can't blame the script for that, and even if you know what's going to happen, you're still on the edge of your seat during the basketball sequences.
