Review of Hoodwinked! (2005) by Gustavmarkovic31 . — 11 Sep 2012
Hoodwinked is one of those films that destroys itself and saves itself at the same time.
On one hand, the animation is terrible compared to Pixar and even DreamWorks and there are only a few rare times when it's actually funny. It's terribly unfunny and sometimes is so bad that it makes you cringe.
But on the plus side, the story was excellent, a totally new thing for the animation genre, and the soundtrack was also good, particularly the numbers by Anne Hathaway and Todd Edwards. And the voice cast wasn't half-bad either.
The story of Little Red Riding Hood was given an investigative spin, but was almost wasted. Thankfully Patrick Warburton was here to voice the funniest character, Wolf. Although his scenes were downplayed dreadfully by a scruffy little squirrel who speaks at fast speeds, not succeeding to make us laugh much though.
Entertaining enough, but could've been much better with a bigger budget and better writers. Worth one or two viewings.
