Review of Hogfather (2007) by Aleksandra B — 02 Apr 2008
It's a holiday movie for the misanthrope. The main villain is a gleefully deranged bastard with a pair of disturbingly mismatched eyes and a school boy giggle, heard often as he callously murders those in his way... and some who are his "allies.".
The hero of the film is The Grim Reaper himself, and he is fantastically portrayed, both in costume/puppetry and through voice work.
The villainous plot is satisfyingly bizarre, and the plan employed by our heroes in opposition is even wackier.
The humor is clever and witty with few exceptions. Some groan-worthy visual gags slip in, but they are in the vast minority.
