Review of Hideous Kinky (1999) by Pursnickitty S — 06 Oct 2009
Another one of my favorite films. I think critics should give it another look (it took a few times for me). A bit slow in places, but the beautiful landscape and images mostly makes up for it. I think this is a great story about brokenness in the hippie era of "free love.
" She thought she was running away from convention, but it took a literal spiritual journey and the wisdom of her two little girls to figure out how broken commitments affects all of us. The acting is so natural in this film.
It's a joy to watch Winslet and these two little girls.
