Review of Hideous Kinky (1999) by Ali J — 02 Nov 2008
I saw this at the cinema when it was first released, and although fairly plotless and meandering it is very beautifully shot and Kate Winslet is very believeable as the hippy dippy mother of two, trying to make ends meet in Marrakesh in the early 1970s.
If you want a thrill a minute, action packed, complex narratively structured film with a brooding under current, this isn't for you, but if you like aesthetically pleasing films, that trundle along at the pace of a very long Hawkwind track (to put this in period context) then enjoy!
