Review of Heaven (2002) by Halina Z — 26 Jan 2011
I don't know HOW Giovanni Ribisi and Cate Blanchett didn't become major international super-stars with this one!
Shame on Miramax Films for not doing a better job to get this out there!
It represents such a dove-tail of impressive talents:
Ribisi's Italian is flawless and his performance is powerfully understated.
Blanchett says more with her silence than Shakespeare with a soliloquy.
Writers Kieslowski and Piesiewicz tell a story of social, political and emotional relevance.
Cinematography reflects the magnitude of geography and spirit.
Editing adds depth to every moment of suspense and intimacy.
Directed to the maximum impact of all these amazing elements, especially the ending.
A quietly impressive monument to cinematic artistry.
...is good, me like.
