Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Jamie T — 05 Jan 2012
Strong and dark gangster film. The way it opens and the way it ends, all of it describes the absolute hate and violent chaos that is been revealed by those under the threat of teenage hoodlums who know no mercy.
And when Harry Brown (played fantastically by Michael Caine) finds out that his best mate was killed by youngsters in attempt to try and defend himself against them, also with the recent passing away of his wife, Harry can no longer take the violence and gaining up of gangs on his estate.
And so decides to take justice into his own hands. Going down the road like Gran Torino, the film features a strong moderation of cursing, gang violence and sexual abuse. However its Caine who holds the film on its own feet and while maybe not having a grumpy personality like Eastwood from Gran Torino he does entertain us.
Not a very light hearted film to watch.
